Jasmine salt & pepper spice mix

October 22, 2015 by Ariel 1 Comment

JasmineSpiceMix02

Why not jazz up the typical “salt & pepper” with this lightly flavoured jasmine salt & pepper mix.  I’ve been using it on grilled meat, veggy stir fry and even tofu!  The light jasmine aroma is a nice added touch to merguez and green cabbage stir fry and the lemon zest clear up the taste just enough to bring all your flavours together.

Delicate & worth it….

Basic Mayonnaise

October 12, 2015 by Ariel 4 Comments

Mayonnaise01

When I became nomad, almost a year ago, I knew my kitchen habits had to chance.  Done with the luxury of being able to buy a big pot of mayonnaise without worrying if it would be done in time.  Since we have been renting fully furnished apartments and we’ve been living in our suitcases, being able to store items in the fridge for weeks/months on end isn’t an option anymore.

You obviously don’t need to be nomad to make your own mayo.  You should have the desire to do so already because of the simple fact that you’ll feel extremely accomplished making this basic commodity that we’re so used to buy and you’ll be able to customize it exactly the way you want.  What I’m giving you today is a base, feel free to jazz it up by adding your favourite spices to make it your own.

Happy Beetroot & Green Apple Salad

May 20, 2015 by Ariel 1 Comment

BeetRootandGreenAppleSalad2

Did you know beetroots and green apples are a match made in heaven?!  Yes it is!

♡。゚.(*♡´‿` 人´‿` ♡*)゚♡ °・

The tanginess of the Granny Smith’s apples with the sweetness of the beetroots blend PERFECTLY and should definitely be use together more often.   Right there, on the top of my head, I’m thinking of a puff pastry with thin sliced of apples, beetroots, green onions, goat cheese and maybe a bit of thyme and spicy oil to make some seriously delicious and gorgeous little tarts.   Who knows, this might become a future project…

Basic Wonton Wrappers Dough Recipe

March 5, 2013 by Ariel 12 Comments

Ahhhh wonton wrappers… I am sincerely in deep deep love with my homemade wrappers.  I always have some in my freezer.

….Ok let me explain this first sentence without looking like a retard…lol

It’s just that, this dough is amazing!!  You can bake it, fry it, steam it, boil it and every ways it makes something delicious!  From pasta to chips, passing by spring rolls and pie cups, you can create so many goodies so this is why I’m in love with my homemade wonton wrappers.  Oh and let’s not forget that they are super healthy too!  Only a few calories by wrappers makes them a wise choice in a lot of recipes (no worries, I’ll be posting a few now that this recipe is live).

Nobody never really show me how to make wonton wrappers but after reading and searching online, it’s pretty much like I had special teachers showing me the recipe and technique that was going to change my kitchen forever.  If you’re not already making your own, just give it a try and see how amazing they are.  Don’t hesitate to make the taste test with the store bought version and you’ll see.  On my side, it was a revelation 🙂  Everything is always better when it’s homemade 🙂
